Automatic Litter Box

Any pet owner of a cat knows a litter box is an 
essential piece of equipment.  The kind of litter box 
you get is a personal choice.  Some people will want 
an automatic litter box.  This is a great product for 
those that are having or are planning to have 
children.  The reason being that pregnant women 
are not allowed to take part in cleaning litter.  But, 
the box must be clean to keep kitty happy.  

An automatic litter box will have a bigger price tag 
on it than a conventional one.  The extra cost is due 
to the robot like characteristic these type of boxes 
posses.  

An automatic litter box is essentially a self cleaning 
litter box.  It incorporates a rake like device that 
spans the lenght of the cats box. It works by starting 
at one end and raking the contents of the box to the 
other end.  At the other end is a container module 
where all the waste is deposited.  To keep it clean and 
make clean up easier, there are usually plastic bags 
that go in to this container.  By keeping all the waste 
in a container, you can control the odor  coming 
from the automatic litter box with some kind of air 
freshener or deodorizer. There are some things you 
need to know so this operates the way it should.

There is a specific type of cat litter that has to be 
used in this scoop free litter box.  You really should 
try out both clumping litter and regular kitty litter.  If 
using clumping litter, the clump will sometimes get 
to big, the rake may get stuck and not function 
properly.  If the clump is to big it will not fit into the 
container either.  If this happens the bag systems 
that fit into the unit container will not be effective. 
you will be left with large ball of something to clean 
up and break up that you really do not want to 
handle.  This situation should not present itself to 
often and in most cases is a rare occurrence.  The 
automatic litter box should activate to rake the 
waste as soon as the cat is done his or her business 
and leaves the box.

One problem that you may encountered when first 
introducing an automatic litter box to your cat is 
this.  It is new and makes noise.  It may take your 
kitty some getting used to before it is comfortable 
using this type of litter box.  So watch your pet cat 
closely in the beginning to make sure it is using the 
new litter box.
